The Reality Of The Global Messaging App Market: It?s Really Freaking Fragmented

messaging app mapIt would be easy to assume that Facebook or Apple's iMessage are in a natural position to reach global dominance in smartphone messaging. But the reality is that the landscape looks very different and is very fragmented -- at least for now. There are plenty of apps, WhatsApp included, that have tens of millions of users or dominant marketshare in their home countries of Korea, Japan or China.

Kanex DoubleUp Dual USB Charger review

In my house, we have a lot of gadgets that need to be charged and a dearth of outlets.  Because all of us tend to have the same types of gadgets, we can usually share chargers, which minimizes how many chargers we have to have scattered around the house.  Since I now have a few [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi has begun to receive Android 4.1.1 in the United Kingdom

Tab 2 10.1

Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) is now rolling out to the WiFi version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (see our review) in the United Kingdom. Back in September, we saw an update roadmap from Samsung that included the Tab 2 10.1, but dates were not set. If you're one of the lucky owners in the United Kingdom, you can update your device via KIES or an OTA update. Hopefully this is a sign that the rest of the world will see the Jelly Bean update very soon.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1? Have you seen the update yet? If you have, or want to see what others are experiencing, visit our Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Forum.

AT&T Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update hitting Kies

Samsung Galaxy S3

Coming up on 3 weeks after the T-Mobile Galaxy SIII (S3) started receiving an OTA update to Jelly Bean, users in our forums are reporting seeing the update become available via Samsung Kies for their AT&T Galaxy S3s. There's no indication of when (or if) this will go out via an OTA package, but willing users that are impatient can always go with the Kies desktop software route.

Take a look at the source link below to our forums where the discussion about the update has already begun.

Bantr Goes International To Offer Soccer Fans A First Screen Experience ? Apparently

147659v2-max-250x250There are a whole host of second screen apps catering to sports fans (the UK's Fanatix springs to mind), so it's curious that Bantr, which sees its full global launch today, is billing itself as primarily a first screen experience for soccer fans. That's because, along with powering real-time discussions and opinion before, after and during games, the web-based app pipes in live in-game data, such as text commentary and stats, meaning that it's possible to use Bantr even if the match isn't on television or you aren't at the game. It's also been designed to let fans follow multiple teams, games and leagues at the same time, which is of course how the more hardcore footy fans follow the beautiful game anyway.
