Re-Enter the Dragon

SpaceX's Dragon space capsule returned to Earth on Thursday, 10 days after it took off into the wild blue yonder to resupply the International Space Station. The capsule touched down in the Pacific Ocean at 11:42 a.m. ET a few hundred miles west of Baja California, Mexico. It will be taken by boat to a port in California near Los Angeles.

Add a Windows 8 user tile to your Windows 7 taskbar

Now that Windows 8 images have begun leaking out, it's only a matter of time until developers start releasing mods for Windows 7 which mimic upcoming features. Over at Into Windows, they've spotted one such mod already.

In the earliest Windows 8 images, we saw Windows Live integration on the taskbar. In the far right corner, there's a user tile displayed. If you'd like to do the same on Windows 7, download Taskbar User Tile from DeviantArt user AngelWZR.

Once installed, your current picture will appear on the taskbar. Click it, and a menu appears which allows you to log off, switch users, and access the control panel. Right now, the mod only works if your taskbar is displayed on the bottom of your Windows desktop.

A sneak peek at the next version of Android Market and Music app

Android Honeycomb'ish smartphone Music appUpdate: Tech From 10 seems to be offline -- but we have lots of images and a hands-on review if you want to see what the new Music app is like.

In what is probably a bit of a big-G whoopsie, the folks at Tech From 10 woke up to find a new, test version of Android Market installed on their Galaxy S.

Visually, the new version is almost identical. The carousel of featured apps has been updated slightly, and apps now have a 'Content rating,' but that's it (image after the break). The interesting bit, however, is the inclusion of alpha and beta apps -- most notably, there's a new version of the Music app, which looks like a scaled-down version of the Android 3.0 Honeycomb Music app (see right).

Also available from the test Android Market is 'Google Gallery 3D New 10.2', 'Google - Camera v12' and 'Google Desk Clock 10' -- but, curiously, all of the apps refused to launch on Tech From 10's Galaxy S (Vibrant) smartphone. Are they Honeycomb apps? Or, more likely, are they destined for the next Android smartphone OS, Ice Cream?

If you want to try out the new Honeycombish Music app, Tech From 10 has made the APK available for download. You can also download the three Google apps, if you want to have a poke around.

Add playback hotkeys to Amazon Cloud Player with a Chrome extension

Sure, Amazon's Cloud Player works -- as long as you're in the U.S. or willing to do some tinkering -- but it's fairly simplistic at the moment. There are plenty of features missing which we'd like to see added -- but since Cloud Player is a Web app we don't have to wait for Amazon!

Google Chrome users, for example, can add playback hotkeys with an extension called keyMazony. Once installed, you'll have keyboard control of your Amazon Cloud Player queue. keyMazony commands will work as long as you're in the same Chrome window as Cloud Player, even if its tab doesn't have focus. The key combinations are customizable as well -- just make sure you don't set up a combo that conflicts with another extension or Chrome's built-in keyboard shortcuts.

ASUS partnering with BlueStacks to bring Android apps to millions of PCs

BlueStacks

Earlier this week, ASUS took some time to go ahead and create a rather obscure video for what they will be presenting at this week's Computex 2012 showcase in Taipei, though they forgot to include anything relevant in the video. Nothing Android was mentioned, nothing Windows was mentioned though it did manage to spark much conversation about a dual-booting Android Windows 8 tablet.

As it seems now, it was to highlight their partnership with BlueStacks as the company has issued a press release fully announcing the partnership. BlueStacks, as you know if you read our review, enables over 450,000 Android apps to run on Windows PCs and now, ASUS will be leveraging that power for their own PC ventures and including BlueStacks within their @vibe platform.

"ASUS has created a phenomenal software experience on PCs. Launching with ASUS at Computex 2012 solidifies BlueStacks' leadership position as the sole provider of apps for consumer electronics and PC manufacturers worldwide," said Rosen Sharma, President and CEO of BlueStacks. "Our strong portfolio of apps from top developers, combined with our unique monetization engine makes this a revenue-generating opportunity for PC OEMs. This is a winning proposition for the entire PC ecosystem. App developers who have already built for Android can now just run their apps on Windows PCs through BlueStacks. We've done the heavy lifting for the benefit of all."

Together, ASUS and BlueStacks will be offering users of asus@vibe Android apps through their broad line of products including the ZenBooks, notebooks, Eee PCs, desktop PCs and All-in-one PCs. Pricing for it all seems rather wish washy at the moment as the press release notes, apps will be free for six months and then users can upgrade from there to unlimited apps and sync apps from phone to PC.

For those of you out there hoping for some other sort of news though, there is still some hope we suppose. This all could only be one portion of something greater, just don't get too bummed out if this happens to all it was in the end. You can jump below for the full press release from ASUS  and BlueStacks.

Collapsible Laidback Lounger Is Perfectly Angled For Lazy Campfire Nights [Design]

Camping chairs usually put their folding functionality before comfort, resulting in a seat that's easy to transport, though, not ideal for lazy weekend lounging. But the Mantis perfectly blends both form and function with a laidback design that packs away small enough to stash in a backpack. More »
