If you're prone to hitting the road in a trailer or camper, you probably know that the road isn't exactly made to accommodate to your less-than-dainty vehicle. In a bid to express its deepest sympathies (and, you know, make money), TomTom is unveiling a device made specifically for caravan owners. In addition to offering the standard TomTom Live features for keeping up to date with traffic and weather reports, the Go Live Camper and Caravan includes warnings for narrow roads, low bridges and the like, and it also highlights the nearest rest stops and other points of interest for road trippers. And because you probably trade in that motorhome for a smaller set of wheels on occasion, TomTom lets you switch to a different profile, complete with customizable specifications for size, weight and speed. The Go Live Camper and Caravan will set you back £349.99, and as the price indicates, it's currently only set up to handle roads across the pond.

Google is prolific when it comes to its in-house production, churning out new ideas and products all the time, and the company isn't afraid to pull the plug if the idea doesn't pan out. In fact, CEO Larry Page said in his "Update From The CEO" earlier this year that Google has shuttered or combined 30 products since April 2011. But this morning found Google making a relatively unusual move, announcing not a closure, or a purchase, but a sale(!). The product, called SketchUp has become one of the most popular 3-D modeling tools in the world, with over 30 million activations of the program in 2011. And today, Google announced that the SketchUp team and technology will be leaving the Google campus to join Trimble Navigation, for an undisclosed sum.Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/obR-ho4yEpI/

First announced way back in January, the Samsung Galaxy S Advance has today launched in the UK, bringing a respectable list of mid-range specs to the table. Inside its curved Galaxy S II-style chassis there's a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 768MB of RAM and a 4-inch SuperAMOLED display, with a 5MP camera on the back and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). On the software side, the S Advance packs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (yeah, we know) and Samsung's TouchWiz 4 UX.
SIM-free prices start at £322.80 including VAT, and Three UK's also offering it for free on monthly plans starting at £23 per month.

TripAdvisor, the popular travel planning tool, has just launched an app for Windows Phone 7. Just like the mobile website, the app allows you to search for anything travel-related -- from hotels and flights to restaurants and points-of-interest to visit once you reach your destination. Geolocation is supported, which allows TripAdvisor to quickly locate places nearby. But while that's a neat feature, it's also a bit of a downer -- because, really, it's about the only feature TripAdvisor for WP7 brings to the table that its mobile Web app doesn't already offer (its browser-based geolocation doesn't work with WP7 at the moment). While it's nice to see Windows Phone 7 users getting some big-name apps, it'd be even nicer if we saw some packing a bit more swagger. Still, TripAdvisor for WP7 might just be worth installing on your device if you're frequently on the go -- at least until a better browser arrives with the Mango update.TripAdvisor app for Windows Phone 7 now available originally appeared on Download Squad on Tue, 05 Apr 2011 09:00:00 EST.
