IOGEAR iPhone/iPod Portable Battery Pack Is Your Emergency-Juice Deal of the Day [Dealzmodo]

My skin is really itchy, and I know it is not an STD because I am pretty lactose intolerant. Maybe it's all this Berocca I've been drinking, but then again, it could be my TouchPad. Did you guys get a TouchPad when they were on sale? I don't like touching it. Feels bad on my skin. Like, not slippery enough. Gadgets should be slippery and moist. Don't you think? I would not want to eat an HP TouchPad. I am so very tired. Don't let your phone be tired and get this cheap IOGEAR iPhone/iPod charging thing. More »

Windows Home Server 2011 released to manufacturers

windows home server 2011 whs
Just a little under two months after its release candidate went live, Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011 has been finalized and released into the wild. The new version of Microsoft's slick, do-it-all server OS is a big step forward from its predecessor.

Built on the Windows Server 2008 R2 base, Home Server 2011 features a simpler dashboard, a better backup solution, dead simple remote access to your home computers, and Silverlight-powered remote media streaming. For a more detailed look at what's new in Windows Home Server 2011, you check out Microsoft's official breakdown.

Drive Extender, of course, didn't resurface for the final release of WHS 2011 and that's something a lot of power users are still pretty irked about. Even without Extender, Windows Home Server offers a boatload of useful functionality and might be a good fit for your home network. Manufacturers have already begun building hardware, so you should be able to pick up a device in the very near future.

An evaluation download for Windows Home Server 2011 will be made available in April -- we'll let you know when the links are ready.

AT&T vs Verizon: Which 4G LTE new iPad should you get?

Now that you've decided to get the 4G LTE flavor of the new iPad in the US, the question becomes -- AT&T or Verizon, which carrier should you choose? For most of us, the decision will come down to two factors - coverage and pricing. Here's how it breaks down.

You Can Now Download iOS Apps Up to 50MB Over 3G (or 4G) [IPhone]

Previously capped at 20MB over 3G, iOS app downloads up to 50MB can now be downloaded over 3G (or 4G in the new iPad LTE) in iOS 5.1. It's a welcome increase as devs aren't no longer handcuffed to a minuscule megabyte limit and have more freedom to do more stuff (if they want to hit that 'instant download' range). More »

Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on OS X or Windows with PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze

iOS 4.3.1 jailbreakA jailbreak of iOS 4.3.1 is now possible with both PwnageTool on Mac, and Sn0wbreeze on Windows. RedmondPie -- who else? -- has some handy guides that you can follow for all iOS 4.3.1 devices on Windows, for iPhone 4 on OS X, iPad 1 on OS X, iPhone 3GS on OS X, and iPod touch 4G and 3G on OS X.

All iOS 4.3.1 jailbreaks are still tethered, meaning you'll have to jailbreak your device after every reboot. An untethered jailbreak is slated for release sometime in the next week -- but 4.3 was meant to have an untether, too, and that never emerged.

Maybe Apple's updated security mechanisms will finally keep hackers at bay!

Amazon Offers High Bounties for Used iPads on Eve of Apple Announcement

Unless Apple is setting us up for a curve ball, millions of people will buy a new iPad sometime shortly after Wednesday's anticipated iPad 3 announcement. And if you're among the millions who already have a first- or second-generation iPad and you're looking to upgrade, maybe your first stop shouldn't be an Apple Store, but rather Amazon.com.

Report: Sprint planning to dump Lightsquared as early as next week

According to Bloomberg, Sprint is considering pulling the plug on its partnership with Lightsquared as early as next week. Philip Falcone's burgeoning enterprise was subject to a March 15th deadline to gain approval for a nationwide LTE network, but that was shot down by the FCC last month. The company's been treading water ever since and whilst it remains optimistic that a workaround can be found, it's already ousted former CEO Sanjiv Ahuja, fired 45 percent of its staff and defaulted on a $56 million payment to Inmarsat. The same report claims that Nokia Siemens Networks, the infrastructure arm of the handset maker has suspended network building projects until further notice. The split would cost Sprint around $74 million, but given the current state of affairs, that may look like a bargain.
