Twitter took Vine under its wing late last year, and it looks like that new relationship is bearing its first fruit. Earlier today, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo revealed Vine's new capabilities with a single tweet earlier today with a Vine video embedded. Like Twitter's card implementation, the video appears as a link in the tweet, and users need only click the "View media" (instead of "Show summary") link underneath for that tweet to expand and show the embedded vid. Once played, the clip loops until you tell it to stop. The video Costolo shared is only a few seconds long, so we don't know if there's a time limit for embedded Vine videos, nor can we say when the rest of us will be able to start using Vine. However, we can surely point you to the source to see the service in action.

Our own John Biggs could tell you that there were some terribly neat projects to be found at the PennApps Hackathon, but not every app there was? on the up-and-up, let's say. Case in point: a group of young developers whipped up an iOS app called Playbook that lets people upload and rate pictures of their romantic conquests with their so-called "bros." Really. Just let that sink in for a moment. Source: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/qftfquLSePg/

Google announced today that it is opening a representative office in the Philippines that will be headed by country manager Narciso Reyes and based in Manila. Reyes, a former Friendster exec, was brought on as sales head in the Philippines by Google last November. The Mountain View-based company plans to start hiring for its new office and will post job listings on its local site in the next few days. According to InterAksyon.com, Google has been filling positions in the Philippines since last spring, when job listings for that country started popping up on Google Singapore's site. After what's felt like an eternity, we finally have our mitts on the official ASUS dock for the Nexus 7 tablet. This would be the dock that finally takes advantage of those four little gold contacts on the side of the tablet , allowing you to charge the device without having to worry about plugs. That's a technology that goes back to the Nexus One days (and you'll recall how that dock took its sweet time to get to us, too), and we're glad to finally have it with Google's premiere 7-inch tablet.
Google's still not selling this dock, though, and availability is spotty with other online retailers. We picked ours up for about $40 before shipping.
This isn't an intricate accessory by any means, but it's very much a welcome one. A few quick thoughts after the break:
